Certified Security Officer (CSO)
The Certified Security Officer (CSO) Program is a training initiative designed to certify participants as Defense Officers in the Security sector. The program is implemented to ensure that participants acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the duties of a Defense Officer effectively. Additionally, the program establishes a structured career pathway for Defense Officers in line with current industry standards. The program spans eight (8) days, with a total duration of 48 hours. It is conducted in-person, utilizing a combination of classroom learning and practical training methods. Participants who complete all modules will be awarded the Certified Security Officer (CSO) certificate. This certification formally recognizes them as competent Defense Officers within Malaysia’s security industry.
Program Objectives
The objective of this Program is to provide a basic exposure to security management for Protection Officers. This would provide an understanding of the legal issues in the security environment; awareness of security measures and its applications, crime awareness and prevention; terrorism; and emergency response; thus providing a sound foundation for the understanding of the key issues in security management.
The Program also provides an appreciation of the ethical concepts in the security environment. It focuses on workplace safety, personal safety and OSHA issues and regulations that apply to properties and which are pertinent to the protection professionals. It also provides grounding in workplace communication thus ensuring that the protection officer is effective at the frontlines.
