SMART+WSH PROGRAM

Collaboration with SMART College.

The objective of this SMART+WSH Program is to work with SMEs in the Kg. Pandan neighborhood to determine their level of WSH awareness; help these SMEs to set up Safety Policy and Safety Committees; conduct training to certify these SMEs; ‘monitor and enforce’ WSH best practices; and facilitate work-injury compensation.

The SMART-WSH Project is a 3-phase project

(i) Phase 1 : 1st Year OSH students have conducted a WSH survey on the community where the college is located. Over 1000 SMEs were interviewed and about 25% responded. Only 9 are working with us with regards to set-up of Safety Committee.

(ii) Phase 2 : 2nd Year OSH students to work with the SMEs in our neighbourhood on Certification and registration/Accident reporting/Work injury compensation. Our lecturers/students will be conducting training to train and certify safety officers in this locality. to work with safety officers to report accidents & near miss and to arrange for SOCSO to handle work injury claims

(iii) Phase 3 : 3rd Year OSH students hopes to work with DOSH on Monitoring and surveillance, especially high risk companies listed by DOSH (such as construction companies and oil & gas companies
